Cornelle Wildlife Park
The first zoological park in Bergamo, home of the white tiger.
The Le Cornelle wildlife park is the first zoo in Bergamo and since its inception it has joined the European program for threatened species, which aims to introduce animals born and bred in zoos into wild populations.
The park is also a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria which connects European zoos in order to improve knowledge on protected species and avoid inbreeding.
The symbol par excellence of the park is the white tiger, while the introduction of numerous other species is more recent, including the bongo and the white lion. The park also has the largest aviary in Italy, called "Tropical Forest": it is an area of 7000 m², closed by a net positioned on high poles to prevent the escape of the birds, which live in a state of semi-freedom.
